          Robert Bowyer (d. 1622), Journal of the House of Commons in the
     Parliament de anno primo Reginae Mariae, Anno Domini 1553. (in Latin;
     runs though the entire reign of Philip and Mary). England; early
     seventeenth century. Paper; watermark of a cross in a coat of arms,
     with initials H.N.M., somewhat similar to Bricquet 1345-7 (1580's); 106
     ff.; 330 x 215 mm.; 1 column, ca. 50 lines.

          I-III (8), IV (8, +3), V (8), VI (8, +1), VII-X (8), XI (12), XII-
     XIII (6). Catchwords on every page.

          Cursive script. Unbound; manuscript in loose quires.

          Bequest of James M. Osborn, 1976.

          Comments: Robert Bowyer was clerk of the Parliaments from 1610-
     1621, and was also a keeper of the records in the Tower. This
     manuscript is a copy of his compilation for the reign of Queen Mary and
     records the journals of both Houses. The Osborn manuscript is a more
     complete clerical copy of Petyt MS 537/6 in the Library of the Inner
     Temple, which is in Bowyer's own hand. These compilations were used by
     D'Ewes in his Journals. Osborn fa5 also contains several documents in
     Bowyer's hand, as do the Braye MSS. (Osborn fb.159, fb.160).
