1) Court Roll 1519-20 of Alderley manor. size varies. paper.
2) Court Roll 27 April 1547-1556 of Alderley manor. The outer page
is a leaf from a late twelfth century manuscript with quotes extracted
from the Minor Prophets on the Birth of Christ, the Passion,
Resurrection and the office of preaching. The extractions here are from
the Book of Naum through Malachi. The role is written in several
different chancery hands in Latin. At the top of the first section is
the name of Matthew Poyntz. size varies. paper.
3) Records of Alderley Manor 1601-05. 310 x 20 mm.
4) 21 March 1695: Indenture between Matthew Hale of Alderley and
Samuel Wathen. Signed by Matthew Hale, with his seal. 460 x 585 mm.
parchment.
Presented to Yale for the Osborn Collection by James M. Osborn in
1972 among the papers of Sir Charles Blagden (1748-1820).
Comments: Alderley Manor in the sixteenth century was held by the
Poyntz family. Matthew Hale of Document 4 is the grandson of the famous
lawyer Matthew Hale (1609-1676), who is the grandson of Matthew Poyntz
by his daughter Joan.
