Latin, including speeches given at Queen Elizabeth's visit to Oxford,
1566, and the Homilie preclarorum doctorum. England; ca. 1600. Paper;
ii + 274 ff. (many are blank). Measurements: 250 x 145 mm. 1 column.
I (6), II-XXXIII (8), XXXIV (8, -7), XXXV (4), XXXVI (2, -2).
Cursive bookhand. On f. 270v is a palmist's drawing of a hand.
Bound in the sixteenth century in brown blind-tooled calf.
F. 274v has signiture of Richard Harvey and initials of W.C. The
back endpage has the signiture of William Hames. Sold at Sotheby's, May
14, 1952. Purchased from Percy J. Dobell in 1952. Bequest of James M.
Osborn, 1976.
Comments: At the end are aphorisms in English.. The two flyleaves
are from a fourteenth-century Latin commentary on the Bible in a Gothic
script.
