in his duobus versibus est ista...in fine totius operis subrinicta est.

One column, variable number (25-35) of lines. Single vertical bounding
lines, with prickings for guides. Ruled in dry point.
I-IV^^10, V-VII^^8, VIII^^5-3 (no loss of text), IX^^8, X^^8+2, XI^^6,
XII-XIV^^8, XV-XVI^^6. Catchword below text near right bounding line,
underlined in red, on f. 101v. Parchment quire supports.
Written by several scribes in a gothic cursive script.
Initials in red. Rubricated. Flyleaves contain an early fourteenth-century
English canon law manuscript
Binding: Bound in 15th century blind stamped leather over wooden boards (see
S. Gibson, Early Oxford Bindings (1903) and G. Pollard, "The Names of some
Fifteenth Century Binders," The Library, 5th series, XXV, 1970, p. 212; four
bindings similar to that of the present ms. date from 1478-1482.).
Provenance: Purchased from Laurence Witten, 9 Jan 1984. Sold at Sotheby's, 6
Dec 1983, no. 64.
a) f. 69r Note of scribe: "Amen quod Geffery".
b) f. 103r Note of scribe: "Amen quod W. Geffery. [word erased, first
letter illegible '-ardi'] totum. R.Oxffordum.R.W."
c) On the fourth front flyleaf, verso, an erased note, mostly illegible,
referring to a "Thomas" and dated "anno regni regis Ricardii 3o primo"
(1483).
d) f. 1r Note in a sixteenth century hand: "Thomas lording owse this
booke".
e) f. 129r Note in a sixteenth century hand: "Liber Iohannis Burnetti
pertinet Iste", also some notes rubbed out, one with the name "John Ta-"
evident.
f) Several ms. notes on the first end flyleaf in a late sixteenth
century hand, including the signatures of "John Woller" and "Taverner of
Disse Norf. (Norfolk)"
g) Ms. note on last end flyleaf: "Thpmbs Sbndkrspn xfrbp qxpd trbnskt
kn pfm srnpnf cbrfntfm" (Thomas Sandirson verbo quod transit in rem sermone
carentem).
h) f. 69v A list of accounts and expenses, dated 1597-1599, including
payments to John Woller "upon London Brydge" and to the Queen, signed by "Jo.
Taverner rector Rect. de Disse."
