Phocylides. Spurious works. Poema Nutheticon, with Rhianus, Poem, and
Aristoteles, Hymn to Hermias. Greek manuscript. Said to be 4th century, but
actually 19th century. Vellum. Seven scrolls sewn together (330 x 150 mm.
each). Greek capital script. Brown ink.
Comments: This manuscript was one of a group that Sir Thomas Phillipps bought
from Constantine Simonides in 1854. Sir Thomas recognized it as a forgery and,
in the catalogue of his manuscripts, notes that the forger included some of the
variant readings given in the Aldine edition.
