"Batarde" script. 24 large capitals in gold and colors, others in red or blue;
double-lined in red. Original binding of brown calf with metal bosses and
remains of clasps; rebacked. Exlibris of Baron Ferdinand Hoffman pasted in
front. Contents written on bottom edge.

Comments: The watermark, an anchor in a circle, does not appear in Briquet. It
is closest to 460-462, Austria, 15th century.
Inscription inside cover names as early owner Iohannes Medici, alias Patczker,
a master of arts at Paris. A large exlibris, pasted in the first folio, is
that of Baron Ferdinand Hoffman of Gruenbuchel and Strechau (1540-1607).
Library of Alexander Fuerst Dietrichstein, Schloss Nikolsburg (Moravia). Sold
21-22 November, 1933, in Lucerne at Gilhofer & Ranschburg auction to Krulis
Randa. Purchased from Laurence Witten on 6 February 1975 from funds from the
Edwin J. Beinecke Legacy.
