Letter, signed, on paper, from King Edward VI of England to John Laeson of Northamptonshire
directing him to contribute a fully furnished horse and armed horseman, by June 10th,
for that summer's planned military campaign against the Scots, who are said to intend
"further annoyaunce of our dominions and subiects."

Woodcut sign manual of King Edward VI at the head of the document, with "By the kyng;"
counter-signature of Lord Protector Somerset ("E. Somerset") at the end of the text.
Papered seal on verso with address.
