Mansucript, on parchment, of a rituale containing the texts of three litanies used
by St. Katherine's convent in Nuremburg, Germany. The first litany consists of prayers
for a dying nun; the second and third invoke a number of Dominican saints, including
St. Dominic himself, Thomas Aquinas, Vincent Ferrer, and Catherine of Siena.
Previously owned by St. Katherine's convent, Nuremburg, Germany; Rush Christopher
Hawkins. Ex libris Arthur and Charlotte Vershbow. Purchased from xxx (CHristie's New
York sale, 9-10 April 2013, lot 301) on the xxxFund, 2013.
Layout: single columns of 18 lines. Music with square notation on four-line staves.
Script: gothic book hand.
Decoration: rubricated. Initials alternately in red and blue; large opening initial
in liquid gold with blue and red penwork.
Binding: contemporary blind-stamped calf; one clasp and catch, repaired.
