isto sit necessarium aliquam doctrinam supernaturaliter inspirari ad quam
non possit attingere lumine naturali intellectus...[Thomas Anglicus,

ideo contra dicta restat arguere primo autem contra dicta sua in [deleted:

concluding on f. 174r:] et ideo quasi generalius accipitur illa diuisio

This work, ascribed in manuscripts to Thomas Anglicus, has been variously
attributed to Thomas Jorz, Thomas Sutton, and Thomas Wilton;
Stegmueller, Rep. Sent. no. 842. The texts of Thomas and of Duns Scotus
alternate throughout the manuscript.

Paper (watermarks: unidentified crown), ff. ii (paper) + 179 + ii (paper),
340 x 235 (218 x 141) mm. 2 columns, 46 lines. Single vertical and
horizontal bounding lines, full across; text rulings within columns. Ruled
in lead. Remains of prickings for bounding lines only.
I-XVII 10, XVIII 10 (-10). Vertical catchwords perpendicular to text
along inner bounding line, verso.
Quire and leaf signatures (e.g., a .1., a .2., a .3., etc.) for first
five leaves of each gathering, center of lower margin, recto.
Written by a single scribe in slanted running gothic script with rubrics
in humanistic script.
One flourished initial of fine quality, f. 1r: red and blue divided
initial, 8-line, with intricate penwork designs in red and purple extending
across upper and down inner margins. Spaces for small initials left unfilled.
Running headlines and rubrics in pale red.
Binding: U. S. A., s. xx. Half bound in brick-red goatskin with cloth
sides. Title on spine "Thomas Anglicus. Questiones contra Duns" and
"MS. c. 1400."
Written in Spain in the mid-15th century; Marston MS 230 can be identified as
manuscript "8.14" from the Library of the Santa Iglesia del Pilar in Saragossa,
Spain. Purchased in 1957 from Enzo Ferrajoli, Geneva, by L. C. Witten
(inv. no. 1622), who sold it in 1958 to Thomas E. Marston (bookplate).
